At the moment was the day – An opportunity to finish my fall loop over and thru the Bighorns. Spearfish to Buffalo WY, over the Cloud Peak Skyway to Tensleep WY, alongside the Nowood River to Manderson, as much as Greybull, up by way of Shell Canyon to Burgess Junction, Down US 14 by way of Dayton and Ranchester, a quick jog on I-90 to Sheridan WY, then on US 14/16 to Gillette WY, then Dwelling through I-90. 579 miles, about 10 hours with stops for breakfast, gasoline and a scorching canine. This isn’t a brand new journey, I attempt to do it as soon as within the spring and as soon as within the fall annually. At the moment, my good friend Scott joined me.
It was simply gentle at 0645 once we left Spearfish after gassing up.
Lovely fall climate for a journey – 46F and no wind – issues have been trying good as we approached the Wyoming border –

However quickly turned to **** with heavy fog –
Loads of Golden shade within the Huge Horns
And alongside Clear Creek East of UCross WY
We do not have many reds in our palette out West
One among my favourite landmarks is that this outdated grain elevator –
A singular fashion not seen elsewhere.

The fog we encountered getting into Wyoming lifted simply earlier than Buffalo WY, we had a pleasant run to Ten Sleep over the Cloud Peak Skyway and down by way of Ten Sleep Canyon, with little or no site visitors, and intermittent moist pavement. From Ten Sleep to Greybull was nice and within the low 60s. Greybull to Burgess Junction through US-14 by way of Shell Canyon was unbelievable, not one car in our manner. Burgess Junction to Dayton WY the identical – no site visitors headed East, a transparent street which we actually loved. Stopped for gasoline and a scorching canine in Sheridan WY earlier than setting forth to Gillette WY through US-14/16 by way of UCross WY. We lucked out and beat the storm coming from the South West. We bumped into fog once more simply East of Sundance WY on our manner dwelling. An amazing day!
